A lot was accomplished at the farm this week.  The rain was a welcomed sight on Tuesday.  Anytime God waters His earth the plants are much happier than when we put a garden hose to use.  Not only were we working hard – but the bees were busy pollinating as well!  Always a good sight to see.

Signs of new life began to show this week from our seedlings a week or so ago.  Unfortunately, we weren’t the only ones excited to see this.  We had some deer visit on Tuesday night and snack on a bed of fresh leaves.  However, we got creative and have tried yet another solution to keep the deer out.  At last count we have multiple deterrents: some that flash lights, others that make sounds, an electric fence, and now some very tall netting.  We will see how things progress.

The most exciting, and smelly adventure, occurred when we tried to move chicken manure from a trailer to a pile on the ground.  I won’t go into details – it wasn’t pretty and didn’t go as planned.  Half is on the ground and the other half still on the trailer.  We’ll get to it!

Make sure to reserve your Bag of JOY for Saturday at the Fort Mill Farmer’s Market.

We have a busy week next week with lots of meetings and other exciting things taking place.  It’s an exciting, and JOYful time, at the farm!
