Teachable Moments…

Part of the goal at the farm is to provide teachable moments. From something as complex as the science behind how the lettuce grows to something as simple as how to harvest zucchini. Or when we deliver CSA bags and a homeowner isn’t there; don’t place the delivery in front of a door that swings out. We try our best to provide teachable moments.

We, sometimes too, have to experience teachable moments as well. You know we’re all about transparency here. We have had some issues with an outlet that will trip after awhile. After a call to K&K Electrical; they came and replaced the outlet. Unfortunately, that hasn’t solved the problem and we’re still in the process of troubleshooting. After speaking with the Greenhouse rep on next steps; he wanted some information. Information that required taking the cover off of the electrical panel. After a quick trip to the convenient True Value and a FaceTime call with my favorite electrician at Southern Electric - we had the amp reading that was needed. A teachable moment. We also (Thankfully!) have a work around in place while we pinpoint exactly what’s going on and get it fixed.

We are excited to announce that we’ve hired another employee; Grant. Yes, that’s right, Grant. We now have 2 Grant’s on staff. Grant’s first day was full of teachable moments. We’re glad he’s a part of our team!

Both Grants are members of the Adult Enrichment Centers. Some participants in the High 5 Club stopped by on Wednesday to say Hey to Grant and see what the farm was all about. We put them to work and taught them how to seed for next week’s transplants. Teachable moments.
