Bzzzz……

Bees. Are. Back.

It was an exciting day at the farm today. The farm has been without bees since earlier this year when our swarm left. After trying all spring to catch a swarm of bees in our three hives; we had some friends who were successful in their attempts and they delivered two swarms to us. One of the swarms is strong, healthy, and full of life. The other swarm will need some tending too; however, we are hopeful that it will survive and thrive.

Bees are useful for many reasons. For one, they’ll help pollinate our crops. Second, though we probably won’t benefit much this year, they also produce honey. Local honey is outstanding and we hope to one day be able to offer it to YOU!

We’re thankful to Charles for catching them and to Ken for helping us get them setup. We love learning new things and look forward to learning and caring for our bees.

Our first market last week was a success. Thanks to all who stopped by. We will be harvesting carrots, lettuce, leeks, onions, radishes, herbs and some other goodies tomorrow to sell on Saturday.

See you Saturday from 8:30am-12:30p.
