Observations
For anyone who gardens, or keeps up with flowers, grass, trees, etc., there’s a stark difference between watering and rain. Depending upon whether you rely on your local municipality or a well - water out of a hose is not the same as when God causes rain to fall upon the earth. Prior to this week, it’d been quite a while since we received substantial rain at the farm. Thankfully, the rain earlier this week came and nourished our produce. It sounds crazy to say - but plant life took off following the rain.
Our zucchini and patty pan squash plants went crazy with growth and flowering. We have some fairly new cucumber plants in the ground and they, too, are looking outstanding. It’s our hope for some more rain tonight into tomorrow so we planted 6 more beds containing okra, zucchini, pattypan squash, and egg plant.
However, as we’ve mentioned before, the rain brings lots of life - including weeds. We spent a good portion of this week playing catch up on some tomato beds and green bean beds. Next week we’ll spend time cleaning up some squash beds. There’s always work to do.
Stay on the lookout. We have some exciting news to share in the coming weeks. You’ll find it here.
Have a great weekend!
