Heat Wave. . .

It’s been a scorcher at the farm. We were spoiled a week or so ago with cooler temps and substantial rain. This week has been the complete opposite. It’s a delicate balance to make sure we’re able to work our junior growers but also take adequate water breaks and spend time sitting in the shade. It typically means our mornings are busy and after lunch we plug along. . . but not at the same pace.

We’ve successfully been harvesting tomatoes, peppers, okra and beans. Not quite at the volume I’d like - but we’re getting there. Our patty pan squash, zucchini, and cucumber continue to be abundant and we’re thankful for that.

We’re also thankful for the generosity of our CSA subscribers. Some were out of town this week and suggested we donate their food to a good cause. We were able to take their Bag of JOY along with produce that we donated on top of the Bags of JOY and provide quite a variety of produce for our friends at the Dorothy Day Soup Kitchen. Patty Pan Squash, Lettuce, Carrots and Cucumbers were delivered today. We also picked up some water so that they’d have bottles available to hand out as needed in this heat.

We’ve all been given so much. It’s important we give back and teach those around us to do the same.

Thanks for your support. We continue to inch closer to some awesome news that we can’t wait to share. No spoiler alert here. . . .Jeremy will get me!

Have a safe weekend!
